Rapid manufacturing

Rapid manufacturing. I prefer Rapid Prototyping. The material is just a rip off of real materials and the feeling and texture an tactility you can create with it.

The aspect about the technique what interested me is the visual quality of one of the materials. The SLA technique with its brown semi transparent look. This state of the art technology and material with the look of old fashioned plastics.

An other interesting aspect of this technique is the possibility of producing things that before only theoretically existed. Especially in maths this is a helpful tool. The 3D shapes created through formulas, before only visual on the screen or 2D print, are now possibly printed in 3D. For this theoretical work this really is the only way of getting it in 3D.
